Revolution
is the youth ministry at First Baptist Church of Norris. Our main teen worship
event takes place from 6:30 to 8:00 on Wednesday nights. A great time of
worship and fellowship can be found at Revolution. Come visit us at Norris for
an experience you wont forget.
Our
small group/discipleship time is at 6:00pm on Sunday nights. This is a time of
a deeper look at the Word of God, as we apply it to our life.
As well
our ministry has excellent Youth Bible Study Fellowship every Sunday morning at
10:00am. We meet in the Choir Room. Youth will further greatly benefit from our
church worship services on Sunday at 11:00am and 7:00pm.
What is Revolution? www.dictionary.com defines Revolution as “a
radical and pervasive change in
society and the social structure.” We want our youth group to a godly force in our community that, by the
power of Christ, transforms each of us and all those around us by the grace and
love of God. We want our lives to revolve
around Christ and the word of God. We want to always be turning away from sin and to the Lord. This is why we call our
student ministry Revolution.
Current Series - Reason for God
This will be a section of our teaching ministry that will
explore the truth of God’s revelation to us. Common objections to the Christian
faith are rampant in our schools, work places, and ever where we turn. Skeptics
of the faith say; There can’t be just one true religion; How could a good God
allow suffering; The church is responsible for so much injustice; Science has
disproved Christianity. Are these valid questions? Well possibly, but what we
want to do in the next few weeks is learn valid answers to these questions.
Skeptics with their anti-God perspective and scholarship
have for generations believed and proclaimed that authentic true Christianity would
come to an end, because secular science and philosophy would take its place. In
fact the opposite is true; Christianity has grown despite its zealous haters,
and has produced many wise godly people who continue to proclaim and defend the
truth of God.
Come join us for this increasable journey of defending and
owning your faith in Jesus Christ.
REASON
for
GOD
A few books that would be really good to read as we go through this
seris are…
Lee Strobel –The Case for Christ
C.S. Lewis – Miracles
Timothy Keller – The Reason for God
Ken Ham – The Answers Book
Ed Hindson and Ergun Caner – The Popular Encyclopedia of Apologetics
Prayer is an essential part of being a child of God. We are told to be
continually in prayer (Acts 6:4; 1:14; 1 Thes. 5: 17; Rom. 12:12). During this
six week prayer study, we will be asking, as the disciple did, “Lord, teach us
to pray” (Luke 11:1). In two of our sessions, we will be studying the response
that Jesus gave to his disciple, which was what is often called “The Lord’s
prayer.”
Matthew 6:9-13 ESV
Pray then like this: Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name.
"Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in
heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
Each of these petitions gives us great principals to live out in our
prayer life. After we spend a while looking at “The Lord’s Prayer” we will turn
our attention toward the messages we can send to God. We are able to talk to
the Lord of heaven and earth. Wow! We can tell him about our situation in
thanksgiving or complaining. We can bring to him a message of praise as we
consider and stand in awe of who God is. Christians must confess sins through
prayer. Through pray, we also ask God to change things in our life.
Our hope is that Christ will inspire our hearts to be a youth group of
prayer. Pray that we would all be transformed by prayer. We want to connect
with God through prayer. On the last Wednesday night we are going to have a special
prayer service. Are you son or daughter that connects and prays to your
Father-God? Are you a pray-ur?
